IN JULY 2025, FANNIE MAE MAKES SLIGHT DOWNWARD REVISION IN 30 YEAR FIXED MORTGAGE RATE PROJECTION FOR END OF 2025.
When asking the question, "How is the Northern Virginia Real Estate Market?", part of the answer is to consider the current and future trend of mortgage interest rates.
In their July 2025 Economic & Housing Forecast, dated July 23rd, Fannie Mae lowered their projection for the 30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rate at the end of 2025. The new projection for the 30-year rate will fall to 6.4% by the end of 2025 & 6.1% by mid-2026.
The June Forecast had rates at 6.5% by end of 2025 & 6.2% by mid-2026, so only a slight downward change .
In late-July, the 30 Year Fixed Rate weekly average is 6.74% according to Freddie Mac.
